The On-Campus Internship program was designed by the Office of Student Employment to aid departments in developing opportunities for students to gain valuable internship experience in areas directly related to their academic programs. Each internship will provide a unique experience that includes industry specific work. The specific projects and learning outcomes will differ by department (examples of job titles include: Human Resources Intern, Event Coordinator Intern, Interactive Project Specialist, Student Outreach Intern, etc.). Coaching prompts and required summaries ensure that each position is providing growth and learning tailored to the position and the individual intern in alignment with the program outcomes. Students will create a PDP (Personal Development Plan) that serves as a structure for learning while giving them the autonomy to pursue their own development and measure progress over time. Students who participate will learn how to obtain a position and market their abilities to prospective employers. Once the position begins, students will gain industry specific work experience through their internship that is academically relevant. Students are responsible for taking control of their own development by participating in the required development activities. These activities will enhance their understanding of their career path by challenging them to pursue and reflect on learning opportunities. Students in this program must be second semester freshman, sophomores, or juniors by academic standing. Qualified positions allow interns to earn course credit.
