The Regatta Steering Committee at IUPUI is a student organization within the Division of Student Affairs. The Regatta event is a half-mile canoe race on the downtown canal in the heart of Indianapolis. The event is held annually in late September. Established in 2009, the IUPUI Regatta has quickly become a signature event for the campus. This high-energy tradition involves both IUPUI’s campus and the Indianapolis community while benefiting the Stefan S. Davis IUPUI Regatta Scholarship. Regatta Week entails multiple events, culminating in the canoe race. On the day of the Regatta, various activities, including live entertainment from IUPUI organizations and local community bands, an Arts & Culture Fair, food and marketplace vendors, and a community festival area with inflatables, entertain race fans of all ages. The Regatta Steering Committee at IUPUI (RSC) consists of an executive board, a board of directors, and coordinators. The committee of approximately 15 students is responsible for the implementation and growth of the IUPUI Regatta each year. The three members of the executive board provide general administrative oversight and direction for the organization and advise the work of the directors. The board of directors consists of dedicated individuals who take on the planning and implementation of the programmatic aspects of the Regatta. Directors may also oversee the work of coordinators and task/project-specific subcommittees.
