Additionally, per the USG Constitution, the organization: Provides students the opportunity for representation by a student government in consideration of student affairs by Indiana University, as declared in the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct (Part 1, Section C); Provides an official and representative undergraduate student government; Provides undergraduate students a voice in the affairs of the University; Investigates undergraduate student problems and takes appropriate action; Affords undergraduate students the opportunity to develop leadership skills and experience; Provides the means for undergraduate students to maximize their opportunities for learning; Establishes a community of undergraduate student life that supports learning The USG leadership team consists of nine positions and includes executive and Senate leadership. These positions include the President; Vice President; Secretary; Treasurer; Director of Communications; Director of Initiatives; Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; President of the Senate; and Senate Clerk. As a result of being campus representatives, students in these positions work in formal and informal settings with individuals and teams on problem solving campus issues, advocating for changes, and communicating with the student body.
